Trail Saturday....

Trail Saturday....

This blog post is dedicated to my trail and life mates Petra and Helena!
Due to this pandemic there is no much to do in term of meeting people, hanging around, traveling...but is not that bad cause we always have our amusing nature to hang outdoor.
So, we are doing it like every weekend...going around and exploring so many stunning places in Istria county, that we haven't seen before!
Now that our space to move and travel is so shorten and tighten due to the covid crisis, we will stick to our homeland and enjoy its beauty. Istrian peninsula has so much to offer, whether you want to hike, cycle, run, swim and the list goes on....

Trail Istarske toplice- Oprtalj- Istarske toplice

It's Saturday, January 9-th and is my turn to ride. We usually change ride shifts. Backpack is ready and coffee to go is in thermos bottle, considering that every bar and restaurant in Croatia is closed. People are now drinking coffee mostly near the sea from thermos bottles. What can we do??? We have to get used to new normal ☝
We are fully excited as we are riding toward our goal/trail. The trail is 15km long, with moderate difficulty. Al the necessary info you can get from official site  http://www.istria-trails.com/en/trails/trails/53-ch-0?.&l_over=1.
It's pretty freezing outside like -3 degrees Celsius, as we arrived at the starting point. I was so lucky that day because friend Petra brought some leggings that weren't fitting here as she wanted, so I put the second pair of leggings on...cause otherwise I don't think I would make it trough that chilly day 😊

No starting without coffee and recording on Strava

We jumped from the car freezing and chilling with coffee in our hands, figuring out where to start...
I have to pin point that the markings are not that visible. We have all started the record on our so loved Strava app, that I truly recommend whether you are running, cycling, swimming or just walking around!

While on trail we talk occasionally

When enjoying the trail and nature with a bunch of friends to whom more or less everything is said and done, usually every one of us has her own pace and mind resenting with a fresh air and stunning landscape. No need to talk too much. We talk when we take a break or so. The only goal of trail is to clear your body and mind with amusing scenes you have never seen before and to feel your muscles working!

We missed the trail markings

According to Strava at some point we where reaching 10 km of walking and moderate climbing, so considering the map and the description of the trail in more or less than 5 km we should be reaching the starting point, but we didn't!!
Some how we missed the right marking and instead of walking 14,7 km at the end we recorded close to 20 km! I was feeling a bit nervous because we missed the marking, and not having the head lamp in case the sunset will be faster then us.

However we have spend wonderful time together as we always do, laughing at the each other, and planing the next trail 💕😄

Happy trailing guys....

Marathon: History and curiosities of 42,195 km

Let's talk about Marathon Today, I woke up with an idea and the question what is the origin of term "Marathon". Well, I didn't make it to the marathon distance yet, half marathon is my longest distance so far. This doesn't mean that I'm not planing it in the future. I will sure break my legs to achieve that. But, there are a plenty working-hard-days ahead to concur the magical number 42,195 km.  The origin of the term  The marathon is a long- distance race with an official distance of 42,195 km, and is usually run as a road race.  The term derives form two Greek legends.  According, to one, the soldier was sent to as a messenger from the plains of Marathon to Athens in 490 BC to pass the news of the victory by the Greek army over Persians.
