Best trails in Istria, Croatia

Trails in Istria!

Hello world today I'm inspired to share with you some of my best trails in Istrian peninsula, Croatia. In this trail you can run, hike, cycle or just have a nice walk end enjoy the beauty of nature! So lets start!

1. Park forest Šijana, Pula

This wonderful forest is just 2 km away from Pula downtown. By the begging of last century was called "Royal wood", where the austro hungarian royalty was recreating and relaxing from every day life. Still now days it's purpose is the same. Forest area is 152 ha. This trail roads are good for running cycling or long walking. Is suitable for all seasons especially during hot summer days where you can find nice shadows and run your run.

If you ever visit my hometown Pula, Croatia this is a place on Your bucket list. You can get some nice refreshment during your vacay, even the beach won't be necessary. For more info about this magical forest here is the link http://www.pulainfo.hr/hr/fun/park-suma-sijana

2. Cape Kamenjak

Second favorite trail near my hometown which I highly recommend you is southeast point of of Istrian peninsula and is called Cape Kamenjak.  The area of Lower Kamenjak and the Medulin Archipelago (known as Punta or just Cape Kamenjak) is one of the most interesting places to visit in Istria. The reasons for this are certainly the beautiful landscapes and nature you can experience with all your senses, especially in spring and autumn. Kamenjak is ideal for an activity holiday. From walking, cycling, kayaking to surfing, everyone will find an interesting activity for which they will remember their visit to Kamenjak. For more information about this magical cape i highly recommend to visit the official site and plan your visit. Cape Kamenjak, Istrian peninsula. I really enjoy running here as well to have long walks here. Kamenjak has some of the must stunning beaches in Istria as well so enjoy.

3. Seven waterfalls for making the best memories

My third choice goes to this trail of 7 great waterfalls. This is a circular trail that is approximately 13,5km long and is mixture of hiking and long walk. The duration is more or less 5 hours depending on your pause break near every waterfall  The trail starts and ends in the medieval old town Buzet located in the heart of Istrian peninsula. You will be amused by the play of nature mixing rocks, waterfalls and forest. This magical place is the excellent landscape for making unforgettable pics and memories for whole life.

4. Trail of St. Simeone 701

This is a circular trail long 8.9 km that start end ends in medieval little town Gračišće, that is widely known for it's famous wine exhibition.   The path starts near the large hackberry tree along the main road, and in the first part gently descends to the Church of St. Simeon. The church offers a panoramic view of almost the entire area of the path: intact nature and picturesque villages will follow you all the way. The path will guide you to the through the valley that continues along the stream to the old bridge and the waterfall called Sopot. This is a perfect place for a nice picnic and relaxation to be prepared for the upcoming hill. After 40 minutes uphill walk you will reach a nice small church with graveyard of St. Stefan. Then you will reach the hill of church of St. Maria Magdalena  that also offers a splendid view. From here, another 30 minutes walk through nature (first on small asphalt road then turn left to makadam), and "civilization" again starts on the main road near the old chapel, some hundred metres away from your starting point.
Et voila another trail run or walk will be done. Afterwards I advise you to go to get some nice refreshment in some of surrounding  agritourism that Istria is well known for!

Dear reader and we continue ooooonnn!!! See you with more amusing trails in Istria, Croatia!

Sve počinje jednostavnim vezivanjem tenisica i dobrom voljom! Marathon: History and curiosities of 42,195 km

Let's talk about Marathon Today, I woke up with an idea and the question what is the origin of term "Marathon". Well, I didn't make it to the marathon distance yet, half marathon is my longest distance so far. This doesn't mean that I'm not planing it in the future. I will sure break my legs to achieve that. But, there are a plenty working-hard-days ahead to concur the magical number 42,195 km.  The origin of the term  The marathon is a long- distance race with an official distance of 42,195 km, and is usually run as a road race.  The term derives form two Greek legends.  According, to one, the soldier was sent to as a messenger from the plains of Marathon to Athens in 490 BC to pass the news of the victory by the Greek army over Persians. He shouted: "Rejoice! We concur!" and died of exhaustion. The second version states that the Greek soldier Pheidippide, ran from Marathon to Athens after winning the Battle of Marathon, so they could defend the cap...

Tarahumara people!

Tarahumara people! Are they really from this planet? This blog post will be dedicated to Tarahumara people from Mexico state. Writer and a passionate runner  Christopher McDougall memorably describes them in the book-must-be-read "Born to run". He narrate about  them as a mythical tribe of superathletets  who live in the canyons of northwestern Mexico. These people run outstanding distances without even a proper shoes, more like flip flops.   Tarahumara people or ‘Running people’  who can run 300+ km in around 50 hours! Sounds impossible, but it is true. Astonishingly, the entire tribe consisting of men, women, old and young, every one of them is capable of running at least 100+ km in a single run, without shoes. Such extreme feat of endurance has never been seen among humans anywhere else in the world. What is their secret Their secret is the simple lifestyle. They live in  high  altitude mountains, that is very healthy for the body of ...
